Paris: B
Scored across 7 things that matter when you travel with babies and young kids. How we grade
Last reviewed November 2026
Paris may be the city of romance, but it’s also a city of carousels, puppet shows, crêpe stands and some of the best parks in Europe. With the right base and a bit of pacing, it’s wonderful with kids.
Where to stay in Paris with kids
- Le Marais: central, walkable and full of cafés, with Place des Vosges for picnics.
- Saint-Germain / Luxembourg: next to the Jardin du Luxembourg’s playground, pony rides and toy sailboats.
- Near the Eiffel Tower (7th and 15th arrondissements): calmer, residential and close to the Champ de Mars lawns.
- Disneyland Paris hotels: best for park-focused trips.
The best things to do in Paris with kids
- Jardin du Luxembourg. A big playground, a puppet theatre, pony rides and toy boats on the pond.
- Jardin d’Acclimatation. An amusement park and gardens in the Bois de Boulogne, made for families.
- Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie. The Cité des enfants has hands-on zones for ages 2–12. Book a session.
- Eiffel Tower. Book timed tickets online and take the lift up. A carrier is easier than a stroller in the queues.
- Jardin des Plantes. A small zoo (the Ménagerie) and the Grand Gallery of Evolution full of animals.
- Seine river cruise. A gentle way to see the sights while little legs rest.
- Disneyland Paris. Two parks, about 40 minutes by RER.
Getting around Paris with a stroller
- Buses: all are accessible, with a stroller space. Slower than the Métro, but you see the city.
- Métro: stairs everywhere. Fine with a carrier and a light stroller you can fold and carry.
- RER: useful for Disneyland and Versailles. Some stations have lifts.
- Taxis and ride apps: G7 taxis and Uber both work well.
Where to eat with kids
- Boulangeries: croissants, pain au chocolat and baguette sandwiches for picnics.
- Crêpes: sweet with Nutella, or savoury galettes with ham and cheese.
- Brasseries: most offer a menu enfant (kids menu).
- Restaurants usually open for dinner around 7–7:30pm, early by French standards.
Parent tips for Paris
- Pharmacies (green cross) are excellent for baby supplies and advice.
- Many museums are free for under-18s. Check before paying.
- Pickpockets work crowded sights and the Métro, so keep bags closed.
