If you’re nervous about travelling with a baby, start here. Singapore is clean, safe, step-free and full of world-class attractions built for families. It’s also the perfect stopover to break up a long-haul flight.

Where to stay in Singapore with kids

  • Marina Bay: walk to Gardens by the Bay and the waterfront light shows. Spectacular, but pricier.
  • Orchard Road: malls, family hotels and great MRT links.
  • Sentosa: a resort island with beaches, Universal Studios and the aquarium. Feels like a holiday within a city break.

The best things to do in Singapore with kids

  1. Gardens by the Bay. The free Children’s Garden has water play fountains and tree-house trails. Check opening days before you go. The Cloud Forest and Flower Dome are ticketed and air-conditioned.
  2. Singapore Zoo & Night Safari. Open-concept enclosures and a tram ride through the Night Safari after dark. Both are part of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, alongside River Wonders and Bird Paradise.
  3. Sentosa. Universal Studios Singapore, the S.E.A. Aquarium and calm beaches with lifeguards.
  4. Jewel Changi Airport. The giant indoor waterfall is worth a visit even if you’re not flying, and Canopy Park has nets and mazes.
  5. Supertree light show. The free evening Garden Rhapsody show at Gardens by the Bay. Lie back on the ground and watch.

Getting around Singapore with a stroller

  • MRT: step-free, air-conditioned and spotless. Kids under 0.9m travel free. Older kids need a concession card or pay adult fares on contactless.
  • Buses: most are wheelchair and stroller accessible.
  • Grab and taxis: easy and affordable. Look for family options with child seats in the app.

Where to eat with kids

  • Hawker centres: cheap, fast and full of choice. Try Lau Pa Sat, Maxwell or Newton. Hainanese chicken rice is a toddler favourite.
  • Mall food courts: air-conditioned versions of hawker centres, with high chairs and parents rooms nearby.
  • Kaya toast: sweet coconut jam on toast with soft-boiled eggs for breakfast.

Parent tips for Singapore

  • Tap water is safe to drink.
  • Parents rooms (nursing and changing) are in virtually every mall and MRT interchange.
  • Fines are real: no eating or drinking on the MRT, including snacks for kids.
